Petty is a gateway drug to peace

Nobody warns you that the small stuff compounds. The coworker who says “per my last email.” The friend who texts “we should hang out” and means “you should plan it.” The neighbor's wind chime. Individually, nothing. Together, a low-grade fever you carry everywhere.
The fix is embarrassingly simple: write the grievance down, dated, in its full pettiness. Do not elevate it. Do not make it a lesson. “She chewed loudly during the meeting and I wanted to leave my body” is a complete entry.
Something strange happens when you do this for a month. Half the entries become funny by day three. A quarter turn out to be the same person, which is useful information. And a small, honest handful turn out to be real — and those are the ones worth a conversation.
The ledger isn't about staying angry. It's the opposite: it's a quarantine zone where the anger can sit without being fed. Resentment needs your attention to survive. Paper starves it.
Start tonight. One line. Petty as you want. Nobody is grading you, and the ledger has never once told anyone to be the bigger person.
